For its 15th anniversary, Bethesda has released The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall as a free download. You’ll need something like DOSBox to play it. Pick up The Elder Scrolls: Arena while you’re at it, as it’s free, too.

Here’s a neat Google trick I stumbled upon if you want to search for music files. This will find open directories that contain music matching your search criteria, where available.

-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:"index of" +"last modified" +"parent directory" +description +size +(wma|mp3) "Keyword"

Just replace “Keyword” with the search term.

Noob.com Update

Ed updated Noob.com again today with an image from MK8:

MK8

It seems to be Scorpion fighting an opponent. Sub-Zero perhaps? I assume we’ll find out tomorrow, as the anagram at the bottom seemingly translates to “EMBARGO LIFTS TOMORROW”. It’s probably nothing, but the filename is a bit peculiar as well – rain02.jpg.

I just noticed over at Noob.com that Ed has put up several rows of numbers that seem to be a crossword puzzle of sorts. When converting the numbers to the corresponding letter of the alphabet, you get this:

E S Y R O T S L I F E L
E E R F D N A L S I V E
R S W E D E N I L N O D
T O D D A E R D E I L A
U L W O R G A E E S V C
R K O M B A T D P H E R
N I N I A R A E P S D A
A M E M I R C E A E R N
R E V I T C E P S R E P
O Z I E W D A R K T A R
U E C M O N E V H O M E
N E T M A O D E E L B T
D R I I N O R T L O O F
E F M L T E L E P O R T
L E T S A G E V W I I V

Several words now become apparent. I spent roughly 20 minutes on it and came up with some words that may or may not be of importance: BLEED, KOMBAT, FOOL, STORY, LIFE, TREE, TELEPORT, DREAD, VENOM, HOME, LIE, SAGE, FREE, WON, BAIT, DARK, SLEEP, HELP, FINISHER, EVOLVED, NARC, FREEZE, DEEP, SPEAR, CRIME, VEGAS, TURN, AROUND, GROWL, WII, RAIN

Interesting, to say the least. One word that sticks out like a sore thumb is “Vegas.” Anyone who’s a fan knows that Midway Gamer’s Day is vastly approaching and takes place in — where else? — Vegas. A countdown timer is also present on the site, with “ANSWERS” titled above it, and ending in roughly 2 days and 6 hours as of this writing. I guess we’ll find out the meaning of it all soon enough.
