Are you one of the unfortunate souls to get the dreaded RROD? Did you ship your Xbox 360 for repair only to receive a brand new unit? Are your Xbox LIVE Arcade games reverted to trial versions while NOT signed into LIVE or while signed in to another profile? The latter is due to a DRM (Digital Rights Management) issue that the 360 has suffered from since launch. When downloading anything, it’s tied to your console’s serial number. So if your console has been replaced with a new one, most of your downloaded content is only available while connected to Xbox LIVE under the account you originally downloaded it from. But fear not! Microsoft has finally released a new tool on Xbox.com that allows users to transfer their old content licenses to their new console. The downside? It can only be used once a year. But it sure beats the alternative. This news made my week.
